Description
The Emotional Quotient-Inventory 2.0 (EQ-i 2.0) measures emotional intelligence (EI) and how it may impact people and the workplace.
Emotional Intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges, and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.
Applications of emotional intelligence include:
While emotional intelligence isn't the sole predictor of human performance and development potential, it is proven to be a key indicator in these areas. Emotional Intelligence is not a static factor - to the contrary, one's emotional intelligence changes over time and may be developed in targeted areas.
EQ-i 2.0 - New Model, New Reports, and a New Online Platform
The EQ-i 2.0 builds on the original BarOn EQ-i, one of the first scientifically validated and most widely used EI instruments in the world. Based on more than 20 years of research worldwide, the EQ-i 2.0 introduces some differences that stem from changes to assessment items, updated norms, and rigorous reliability and validity studies.
The 1-5-15 factor structure of the EQ-i 2.0 features one overarching EI score (Total EI), broken down into five composite scores which, in turn, are broken down into a total of 15 subscales. In the earlier EQ-i version, individual items loaded on multiple subscales, in the new EQ-i 2.0 items only load on one subscale.
Scale changes include:
The EQ-i 2.0 Online Portal
This new online portal provides quick and easy administration, scoring and resources to practitioners. It is free to have an online portal established (subject to user's qualifications/certification). Contact PAA to establish your new online portal.
Tokens - The online portal utilises a 'token' system. Clients purchase the number of tokens required for each report they wish to generate. Each type of report requires a specific number of tokens. Order your tokens from PAA.
The portal uses an easy 3-step process:
Invite - participants directly from your secure account. Invitation templates and unique URLs to take the EQ-i 2.0 ensures your clients are protected.
Manage - Your account dashboard shows you who has completed the EQ-i 2.0 so you can track your projects and quickly access reports.
Report - A new line of professional, customisable reports gives you a competitive edge. Purchase report tokens in advance and spend them however you wish.
The EQ-i 2.0 online portal also provides the practitioner with new flexibility, features and reporting options:
Customisation - Create reports to fit the way you work and prefer to work with your clients by choosing sections that matter the most. For example, you may brand the report and turn on/off labels, scores, and report sections!
Business Centric - Professional new colour coding format, clear layout and language that speaks to you and your client.
Unparalleled Support - Designed with clear instructions, interpretation guidelines and results-driven content for both you and the client throughout the reports.
Resources - Receive free, full-access admission to new one-stop area for EQ-i 2.0 resources like white papers and presentations.
User Community - Network and exchange insights with fellow EI experts, advocates, coaches and trainers around the world.
EQ-i 2.0 Resources, Training and Support
The EQ-i 2.0 online portal allows practitioners to access webinars, video tutorials and other support and marketing resources for free.
EQ-i 2.0 Norm Options
Reports
EQ-i 2.0 currently offers several types of reports: Workplace, Leadership, Group, Higher Education and EQ360.
All report types have a client and a coach section. The coach version includes, among many features, interpretative guidance for the coach as well as response explanations, follow-up questions, and de-briefing guide - all the tools needed to give the most useful and accurate feedback possible. The client section focuses on conveying the results and providing development recommendations to the client.
This report requires 25 tokens in your online portal to enable the report to be generated. You will be charged 20 tokens for generating the Summary Report if:
Your Summary Report will be free if:
a) The Summary Report
The Student Summary Report is a brief 7-page report that describes the entire EQ-i 2.0 model and provides an interpretive summary of the student's results on 6 of the subscales (their top three and bottom three scores). Results for the remaining subscales are shown with development strategies for all 15 subscales to ensure the student has plenty of resources to improve all of his/her EI skills, should they desire to work on areas outside of their top and bottom scores. Actual scores are not included in the Student Summary Report; only interpretive graphs are presented. The Student Summary Report can be automatically generated upon item completion to provide the student with immediate, limited feedback. This report is best incorporated into a feedback session with the student and an appropriately qualified counsellor.
b) The Student Comprehensive & Counsellor's Report
Because the Counsellor's Report is required by the administrator to explain the Comprehensive Report to the student, the two reports are generated together as a time-saving measure.
The Counsellor's Report is a 10-page report that contains all the information required to debrief the student on his/her results.
The Student Comprehensive Report is a 13-page report that contains results, interpretive text, and development strategies for all 15 subscales. One report option is to include scores in this report that provide specific, numeric feedback. Due to the depth of information in this report and the relative maturity required to effectively plan and carry out the developmental strategies, this report should only be given to the student under the direct supervision of a certified EQ-i 2.0 administrator.
Alert Status
A unique feature of the EQ-i 2.0 Higher Education is the addition of the "Alert status". This Alert Status is displayed on the Manage and Report Generation pages after the participant has completed the EQ-i 2.0 assessment and a report (either Summary or Comprehensive and Counsellor's) has been generated for him or her. Alerted profiles generally indicate a need for further investigation on the part of the administrator. An Alert status identifies students who lack specific EI skills; as a result, they may be less likely to do well in school, or worse, they may not graduate. It is strongly recommended to meet with any student with an Alert status and use the Comprehensive and Counsellor's Report to investigate any areas of concern. Students identified through the Alert status require follow-up by the institution. It is strongly recommended that these students are given the information and support provided in the Student Comprehensive Report.
The EQ-i 2.0 Leadership Report:
This report requires 110 tokens in your online portal to enable the report to be generated. Leaders tend to score higher in emotional intelligence than the general population. An even more specific benchmark is assessing how leaders compare to other top leaders. The EQ-i 2.0 Leadership Report gives you that benchmark. The Leadership report features:
An Executive Summary: showcasing your client's three highest and three lowest scores.
Leadership Potential Section: examines four key leadership competencies and highlights associated and relevant EI skills that help promote success in your client's leadership role.
Leadership Derailers Section: examines how long scores for specific EI skills may particularly hamper leadership success.
The "Leadership Bar": a comparison of how your client scored compared to other top leaders.
Leadership Impact: examines associated leadership and organisational impact, including strategies to help your client leverage each EI skill to reach his/her full leadership potential.
Profile Gap Analysis: Provides a general overview of the level of agreement between your client and his/her raters by outlining areas where your client has a healthy level of awareness (a high level of agreement between the client and rater ratings), and those in which an awareness gap exists (a low level of agreement between the client and rater ratings). These awareness gaps may consist of areas in which your client actually excels (but does not use to his/her full potential due to a lack of awareness), or they may be areas requiring improvement.
Easy Import of EQ 360 Self-Item Responses into EQ-i 2.0 Reports. This feature allows users to import a participant's "self" item responses from EQ 360 into EQ-i 2.0. This allows clients to produce individual Workplace or Leadership reports, as well as have the participant's data included in a Group Report.
