Description

The MMPI-2 Adult Interpretive System Version 4 provides the clinician with comprehensive interpretations for the MMPI-2 and the MMPI-2 Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF). The program offers three interpretive reports for the MMPI-2, including a Codetype Report (similar to the report offered by Version 3), a Content-Based Report and a Codetype/Content-Based Report. A Content-Based report is offered for the MMPI-2-RF. All reports include information on the potential impact of demographic factors, assessment of specific Dangerousness to Self and Others items and a description of test-taking behaviours (e.g. omissions, accuracy of endorsement). The MMPI-2 AIS V4 does not score the MMPI-2 or the MMPI-2-RF; rather, it offers interpretation based on scores that are manually input (or imported from Pearson score reports) into the program.

The MMPI-2 AIS Codetype Report (and the Codetype portion of the combination report) provides an empirically derived prototypic profile based on “goodness-of-fit” with the client’s observed MMPI-2 scores; a client’s MMPI-2 profile is matched to one of 381 prototypic profiles with accompanying interpretive text. Item-level interpretive text must be edited based on clients’ responses. The Codetype Report also contains graphical depictions of the observed and prototypical profiles and a scale-by-scale listing of interpretive text based on T scores.

New to Version 4, the Content-Based Reports promote a shared frame of reference between the client and the clinician that if utilised by both, defines the assessment as a collaborative process. It includes descriptions of the client’s moods, cognitions, interpersonal relations and other problem areas. Content-Based Reports also include graphical profiles of the scores.

For all MMPI-2 reports, the scale-by-scale listing includes T-score-level interpretive text of validity scales (including FBS, which is new to Version 4), clinical scales, Harris and Lingoes scales, restructured clinical scales, content and content component scales, supplementary scales, and PSY-5 scales. For the MMPI-2-RF report, this portion includes T-score-level interpretive text of validity scales, higher-order scales, restructured clinical scales, somatic/cognitive scales, internalising scales, externalising scales, interpersonal scales, interest scales and PSY-5-r scales.

Data may be easily imported from Q Local or from the MMPI-2 AIS Version 3.  The Professional Manual has been updated to include two new chapters, which assist in the interpretation of the Content-Based Reports and provide case examples.
